TO COME OR NOT TO COME?

There will be some time in your life when you have to make very crucial decisions. It happened to me before coming to England.

If I wanted to come with my family I had to pay for all their expenses(visas, tickets, accomodation, etc). My son was only two years old at that time and I didn’t know what to do. Some people suggested me to leave him with my mum. They said he would be very well looked after and he would get used to live without me.

A very good friend of mine, who is a mother as well, advised me to take him with me, even though it was going to be difficult, but she said that a child needs his/her mother more than anything else.

I am glad I took her advice. Though it has been hard, I have had the opportunity to see him grow and to be there for him as he has been for me.

Have you ever felt blue?

Now that I am in The United Kingdom, there are times when I feel blue , because I miss my family and friends. I would like to talk about my feelings, but there is nobody here I can talk to about that. Sometimes I´ve felt like going back home.

What if we don't have a second chance?

In any relationship there will always be disagreements, because everybody is different and nobody is perfect. Between boyfriends and girlfriends rows are very common, but how we deal with them is what really matters.

Whoops. Sorry, I didn't know

It is important to know about how people from other cultures behave or expect you to behave in certain situations, if you don't want to be embarrassed. The following is what a Chinese friend of mine wants to tell us about visiting a friend in her country:

Hello girls,

My name is Amy. I am from China. I read the text about visiting a friend in China and I want to tell you that it certainly is a symbol of good manner to bring some gifts when you pay a visit. Some up-to-date opinion however is to give something which is beneficial for people’s health especially those the guest must need.

You must avoid send things like shoes or clocks, they are of the same pronunciation of something evil in Chinese language. Don’t buy things in white or black unless when your friend asks for it, for in most occasions these colours are used for special purposes like in a wedding or a funeral.

When you accept the others’ gifts, do remember to give something back the next time. It is a fairly fundamental rule in Chinese culture that a “take” should be accompanied by “give”.

Parkour: Cat Leap

This is the first time I hear about parkour. I really enjoyed watching this young man doing that, but I particularly wouldn’t like to try it nor to see my son doing it. I find it very dangerous. They don’t wear any sort of protective devices like helmets. However being able to do all those sorts of jumps could really help you in a dangerous situation.
